Privacy policy
This Privacy Policy explains how CurbSuds ("CurbSuds", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit curbsuds.com, place an order, or otherwise interact with us (together, the "Services").
Our store is hosted on Shopify. Reading this policy alongside Shopify's own privacy policy will give you the fullest picture, as Shopify processes information about your visit in order to provide the store to us.
By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. Who We Are
CurbSuds is operated by Alex Bučko
For any privacy question or request, contact us at supportcurbsuds@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Name, shipping address, and billing address
- Email address and, where you provide it, phone number
- Order details and purchase history
- Payment information — note that full card numbers are processed directly by our payment providers and are not stored by us
- Anything you send us in an email, review, or support request
Information collected automatically
- Device and browser type, operating system, language, and time zone
- IP address and approximate location derived from it
- Pages viewed, products viewed, referring website, and how you interacted with the store
- Cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (see Section 5)
Information from third parties
- Order and fraud-screening data from Shopify and our payment providers
- Delivery status from shipping carriers
- Aggregated advertising and campaign data from platforms such as Meta and TikTok
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information, and we ask that you do not send us any (for example, health or government ID details) unless we specifically request it to resolve a problem.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Process, fulfil, and deliver your order, and send order confirmations and shipping updates
- Provide customer support and handle returns, refunds, and warranty claims
- Screen orders for fraud and protect against abuse of the Services
- Send marketing emails or text messages, where you have opted in
- Measure and improve our website, products, and advertising
- Show you relevant ads on platforms such as Meta, TikTok, and Google
- Comply with legal obligations, including tax, accounting, and consumer-protection requirements
4. Who We Share It With
We share personal information only with service providers who need it to run the business, and only for those purposes. These currently include:
- Shopify — store hosting, checkout, order management
- Payment providers (for example Shopify Payments, PayPal) — payment processing and fraud screening
- Fulfilment partners and shipping carriers — to pack and deliver your order
- Email and SMS platform — to send order notifications and, where you opted in, marketing
- Analytics providers — to understand how the store is used
- Advertising platforms (Meta, TikTok, Google) — to measure campaigns and show relevant ads
- Professional advisers and authorities — where required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims
We may also transfer personal information as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising cookies and pixels may be considered "selling" or "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising, or "targeted advertising," under certain US state privacy laws. See Sections 5 and 7 for how to opt out.
5. Cookies, Pixels, and Advertising
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep your cart working, remember preferences, measure traffic, and deliver advertising.
This includes advertising pixels operated by Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok, which tell us that a visit or purchase resulted from one of our ads and allow those platforms to show our ads to people with similar interests. These technologies may collect your IP address, device information, and the pages or products you viewed.
You can control this in several ways:
- Adjust cookie settings through the banner on our website, where available
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings
- Enable a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal in a supported browser or extension — we treat a valid GPC signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser
- Opt out of interest-based advertising through the industry tools at optout.aboutads.info (Digital Advertising Alliance), optout.networkadvertising.org (Network Advertising Initiative), or youronlinechoices.eu (EU/EEA)
- Adjust ad preferences directly in your Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok account settings
Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the store function.
6. Marketing Communications
If you opt in, we may send you emails or text messages about products, offers, and content.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email, by replying STOP to a marketing text, or by emailing supportcurbsuds@gmail.com. Message and data rates may apply to text messages.
Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages such as order confirmations, shipping notifications, or responses to a support request.
7. Your Privacy Rights (United States)
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights:
- Know / access — request confirmation of whether we process your personal information, and a copy of it
- Delete — request deletion of personal information we hold about you
- Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Portability — receive your information in a portable format
- Opt out — opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny you goods or services, charge a different price, or provide a lesser quality of service because you exercised a privacy right
To exercise any of these rights, email supportcurbsuds@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request." We will need to verify your identity, usually by confirming details of a recent order or the email address associated with your account. We aim to respond within 45 days and will tell you if we need more time.
You may use an authorised agent to submit a request, provided the agent supplies proof of your authorisation.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing supportcurbsuds@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Appeal." We will respond with our decision and reasons. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General.
California residents may additionally request disclosure of the categories of personal information we collected, the sources, the business purpose, and the categories of third parties with whom we shared it, for the preceding 12 months.
8. Customers in the EU, EEA, and UK
Because we are established in [COUNTRY], European data protection law may apply to our processing.
Where it does, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to process and deliver your order and provide support
- Legitimate interests — to prevent fraud, secure the Services, understand how the store is used, and grow the business, where these are not overridden by your rights
- Consent — for non-essential cookies and for marketing messages, which you may withdraw at any time
- Legal obligation — for tax, accounting, and consumer-protection requirements
You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, and portability, and the right to withdraw consent. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
Personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside the EEA, including the United States, by service providers such as Shopify and our advertising partners. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, including the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Data Retention
We keep order and transaction records for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described here and to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations — typically several years after your last purchase.
Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Cookie and analytics data is retained for shorter periods, generally no longer than 24 months.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, and we rely on Shopify's PCI-DSS-compliant infrastructure for checkout and payment.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, contact us immediately at supportcurbsuds@gmail.com.
11. Children
The Services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact supportcurbsuds@gmail.com and we will delete it.
12. Third-Party Links
Our website may link to third-party sites and platforms we do not control. This policy does not apply to them, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies before providing personal information.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be communicated where required by law.
